W: Can I talk to you for a moment, Tom?
M: Of course, Julia. Sit down, please.
W: I’ve decided to leave.
M: Oh, no. Is it because we’re moving out of London?
W: Well, yes. But there are other reasons.
M: I see. You never liked working here.
W: No, no. I’ve enjoyed working here. But…
M: But what?
W: Well, I haven’t had time for other things. I’ve worked here for four years. And I’d like to do something different.
M: What do you mean? Something different?
W: I want to travel. You know, I have never been to other countries.
M: Haven’t you?
W: No, I haven’t. I want to live abroad and learn to speak a different language.
M: Well, I understand.
W: Thank you, Tom.

W: Where were you born, Ayden?
M: I was born in London, but I grew up in Hong Kong.
W: Which university did you go to?
M: My parents wanted me to stay in Hong Kong, but I decided to go back to England. I graduated from Oxford University with a degree in English literature.
W: Did you want to be a writer when you were young?
M: No, I didn’t. I used to teach English just like you for about five years, but by the time I was 30, I decided I wanted a fresh challenge.
W: How did you start writing?
M: I started writing magazine articles for fun, and finally I was asked to write a book, so I was pretty lucky.
W: Are you writing a book now?
M: Yes, it’s about a group of friends living in a foreign country and all the strange experiences they have.
W: Sounds interesting

M: Would you please tell me what you were doing when the accident happened and what you saw?
W: Yes, I was driving home from work. It was about 5:15 pm, and there was a blue car. We were both driving along Harbor Road when a small white Ford suddenly crashed into the blue car.
M: How fast was the car in front of you when the accident happened?
W:The blue car? Thirty miles an hour, certainly no more than that.
M: How can you be sure about that?
W: Because my speed was no more than thirty miles an hour, and the blue car didn’t go faster than my car.
M: Were you looking at your speedometer when the accident happened?
W: Of course not. I was looking ahead at the road. That’s how I managed to see the accident.
M: Well, if you were not looking at your speedometer, how can you know how fast you were going?
W: Because I never go faster than thirty miles an hour on that road. It’s against the law.

W:
Hi, I’m here to tell you about three unusual ways to have a great day out. First, how about going back in time with a steam-train journey through the beautiful Scottish countryside? This is on the railway line made famous by the Harry Potter films. Starting at Fort William, the train leaves at 10:30 a.m., getting into the lovely fishing village of Mallaig at 12:30. The return journey to Fort William starts at 2:10 and takes an hour and thirty minutes.
For a really exciting day out, Go Wild adventure courses can offer hours of fun in 17 different places. With a little money, you can climb tree tops, go from tree-top to tree-top on a high wire, and cross waterfalls far below –and lots more. Before you start, though, they give you full safety advice. Opening hours are usually from 9:30 to 3:30.
If the adventure course isn’t really your thing, but you like seeing really big wildlife, you can’t do much better than dolphin and whale watching in Wales. Voyages of Discovery organizes regular trips out to sea, passing small islands and then on to even deeper waters. And there, sometimes you’ll see whales while on almost all the trips dolphins will appear. You may also see huge sharks, although they are seldom seen these days.
