Sichuan University–Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) seeks an experienced computer professional to manage all aspects of the technology infrastructure for the Institute. This person will play an important, integral role in developing, delivering, and maintaining critical information technology services for faculty, staff, and students. As a key member of the professional staff, the job responsibilities will grow as SCUPI expands, providing considerable opportunity for advancement. This person will be hired and sign contract with SCUPI.
General Responsibilities
§ Provide computer services in an academic environment comprising hardware, software, and networking systems.
§ Establish, maintain, and expand SCUPI’s website, electronic mail, database, and documentation systems.
§ Technical support:
o Provide technical support and consulting to students and staff.
o Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain desktops, laptops, dataservers, and wired/wireless networks.
o Operate and train users in classroom technology and videoconferencing systems.
§ IT procurement and maintenance:
o Develop, install, and maintain IT systems to facilitate the teaching, research, and administration activities of SCUPI.
o Coordinate IT for institutional teams and external suppliers.
o Resolve hardware, software, and network problems with minimum disruption to users; coordinate hardware repairs with vendors.
§ Documentation
o Maintain technical documentation on device installations and configurations.
o Assist with creating and maintaining Institute documentation, policies and procedures.
o Establish and document procedures for staff and student accounts.
§ Software
o Apple OS X, Microsoft Windows 7/8.x, Microsoft Office
o Moodle/Sakai, AsiaStar virtual classroom
o Anti-virus installation/troubleshooting
Knowledge and Qualifications
· Required Experience
o A technical degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems Management, or a related discipline.
o 3 years full-time professional work experience in IT support, web design and development,and support of Mac OS X and Windows clients.
o 2-3 years’ experience in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including: firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, and monitoring applications.
o 2-3 years of help desk experience
· Software and Programming
o Programming experience with one or more of the major languages (Java, Python, C++).
o Knowledge and experience withLinux, Adobe, JavaScript, web graphics creation, and web conferencing tools.
o Graphic design and digital multimedia production experiences are a plus.
· Hands-on technical experience working with VPN technologies (IPSEC, SSL VPN, AnyConnect, DMVPN, etc.).
· Strong troubleshooting and support skills; desire to learn new skills and train new users.
Demonstrated ability to:
· Communicate effectively in both English and Mandarin.
· Exhibit good interpersonal and team skills in a service-oriented environment.
· Establishand maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
· Rapidly and consistently prioritize service requests.
· Plan, organize and carry out multiple tasks and priorities.

About SCUPI
Sichuan University - Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) is a new academic entity jointly established by the University of Pittsburgh in the U.S. and Sichuan University in China. Officially approved by the China Ministry of Education in March 2014, SCUPI is one of five institute-scale collaborative programs between leading universities in the U.S. and China. SCUPI’s first cohort of freshmen matriculated in the fall of 2015.
Programs in advanced and sustainable manufacturing are a major technical focus of SCUPI. At present, SCUPI offers undergraduate programs leading to degrees in Industrial Engineering (IE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE).Students learn from an international faculty, with all instruction in English, using a curriculum based on the program at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering. From an initial enrollment of 100 students, SCUPI will grow to include both teaching and graduate research programs in engineering, with a target student population of over 1500 people.
