Welcome to Lockley House. It is a fine example of old architecture and was built at the time of Queen Elizabeth the First in the sixteenth century.
As you go up the stairs, you will see pictures of the people who owned the house through the centuries. At the top of the stairs, is the Gun Room with guns from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It is one of the finest collections in the country. You can buy a book about them in the Gift Shop.
The building next to the house was originally built as an indoor tennis court but today it is an indoor swimming pool.
In the Great Hall, there are jazz concerts one Saturday a month. These are very popular, and some of the best players in the country perform here.
After you visit the House, please take a walk round the wonderful gardens. The House closes at 5, but try to come back from the gardens at 4:30. And don’t forget to visit our Gift Shop before you go. Enjoy your visit to Lockley House.
