C
A mouse looked through a hole in the wall to see the farmer and his wife opening a box. “What is in it?” Themouse wondered, but he was shocked to discover it was a mouse trap(夹子). Running to the farmyard, the mouse shouted, warning everyone, “There is a mouse trap in the house! There is a mouse trap in the house!”
The chicken, with her head high, looked at the mouse and said, “Shut up. Little Ugly. This is a big problem to you, but it has nothing to do with me. I can’t be troubled by it.”
The mouse turned to the pig and told him. The pig said, “I am so sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray(祈祷). You are always in my prayers.”
The mouse turned to the cow, who said, “Moo, Mr. Mouse. I’m sorry for you, but it’s no skin off my nose.”
Now the mouse had to face the farmer’s mouse trap alone.
That very night,a sound was heard through the house, like that of a mouse trap catching something. The farmer’s wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a big snake whose tail was caught by the trap. The snake bit the farmer’s wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital. She returned home with a fever.
It is said that drinking fresh chicken soup will help treat fever, so the farmer took his sharp knife to the farmyard, the chicken was killed.
His wife’s sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer killed the pig.
The farmer’s wife did not get well, in fact, she died. Many people came to her home. The farmer had the cow killed to provide for all of them to eat.
Next time when someone is facing a problem, don’t say that it has nothing to do with you.

There’s no doubt that autonomous cars(无人驾驶汽车) are coming. Experts say that a small part of autonomous cars will be on the road by 2017, and that within ten years, fully autonomous vehicles will be running on highways and through our neighborhoods.
When this day comes, though, what will become of the two-car garage? It may not be needed anymore, according to a new study from the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute.
The study says that: if autonomous cars become normal, they could be shared by two people in the same household. For example, Jack and Diane are married and live in the center of a medium-sized city, one where there is no major public transportation to speak of. Their self-driving car could take Jack to his job in the country, then return to the apartment, where Diane would get in and go to work in another part of town. The two no longer need their own vehicles to get to work, and can share the one autonomous car without having to deal with car pooling(拼车) or going out of their way.
“If the vehicle is shared by family members within each household, in the most extreme hypothetical (假设的)situation, the number of cars would become smaller. That means the number of car ownership will drop from 2.1 to 1.2 vehicles per household.” the report says.
As mentioned above, though, this is just the most extreme possibility. Brandon Schoettle, the lead writer of the study, said the number in car ownership could be much fewer than that, depending on many reasons. For instance, the government may pass laws that will not allow the autonomous cars to go on the road alone unless there’s a human inside.
And even though autonomous cars are starting to enter the mainstream(主流), don’t expect this change to happen overnight. Schoettle said it would take a long time to reduce the number of cars on the road.

A. can’t be true B. need a two-car garage
C. will be popular by 2017 D. will be used in our daily life
43. In Para. 3, the writer takes the couple Jack and Diane as an example to show that _________.
A. they don’t need to take a bus to work B. they can share the same car to work
C. they no longer need cars to get to work D. they can go to work in their friend’s car
44.The underlined word “this” in Para. 5 refers to “_________”.
A.The number of car ownership will become smaller.
B. There will be no cars in each household.
C. Each family will own two cars or more.
D. Many people share the same car.
45. From the passage we can infer that the autonomous cars are put into use in order to _________.
A. make cars fashionable B. be shared with families
C. try to solve the traffic problems D. change the life style
