As I look back on my lifetime, I see the friends, neighbors, teachers and coaches who have meant so much to my development.I praise and admire each of these, but none could compare to the lessons I learned from my parents. The reason why they meant so much to me is that they carried out the lessons with care, kindness and love.I always knew that I was truly loved. They showed me their own footprint in this world and challenged me to pass the achievements they had achieved.
They taught mc to show compassionate caring to all I meet in life. One of the hardest lessons I had to learn is that life isn't all about mc.I need to make the most of the opportunities presented to make a difference to those I meet on life's pathway, When I stop, take the time to be still, and listen to my heart and spirit, I'm aware of my purpose in being here. It's not about my home, but do I care for the homeless? It's not about a beautiful lawn, but do I play ball with the kids and grandkids? It's not about how I take care of my body, but do I care for those in the nursing homes?

The pinyon(矮松)is one of the most important tree species in the American West, providing food and shelter for hundreds of wildlife species including songbirds, squirrels and rabbits.Pinyon seeds are often used to make sweets. But a new research suggests that man-made noise may threaten the future of the pinyon.
Jays(灌丛鸦) are important spreaders of pinyon seeds. Each fall, a single bird picks up thousands of seeds and then hides them in various places.Throughout the winter, when other food becomes short, the birds feast on hidden seeds. But some seeds never get recovered.Instead, they come out and form the next generation of trees.
The researchers conducted their study in a woodland of New Mexico. They spread 20 seeds under each of 12 pinyons - six in quiet spots and six in loud areas.Every day for three days, the team came back to each tree to see how many seeds had been eaten and to replenish(补充) some. They found quieter areas of the woodland were more likely to have jays and four times more with pinyon seedlings than loud regions.Meanwhile, the mice that lived in the louder environments ate more seeds there, destroying them in the digestive process. The results suggest noise might influence the ability of pinyons to survive from generation to generation.
The influence of the noise could be felt for many years to come since pinyons live for decades.Fewer seedlings in noisy areas might eventually mean fewer mature trees, because the trees are so slow-growing. Meanwhile, a lower thickness of pinyons would mean less critical(挑剔的) habitat for the hundreds of species that depend on them for survival.
47.Jays are important to the pinyon for the reason that        .
A.they don't feed on the pinyon seeds        B.they prevent the seeds being eaten
C.their wastes can make the land rich        D.they are actually tree planters in a way
