南京民办育英外国语学校成立于1993年，是由南京退离休教育工作者协会主办，南京市教育局批准成立的全市第一所全日制民办中学。建校以来，学校秉承“诚信办学，办人民满意的学校”的办学宗旨，确立了“以人为本，对每一个学生负责”的办学理念。学校常年坚持“好习惯塑造好人生”教育活动，形成了良好的校风，赢得了社会的赞誉。
学校现有初中、高中两个校区，36个教学班，1218名在校学生，177名教职工。拥有一批市、区学科带头人和优秀青年教师。
学校坚持精细管理和有效教学的治校方略，教育教学质量上乘。多年来，中考成绩始终在南京市名列前茅，在鼓楼区位居榜首。高考成绩在同类学校中遥遥领先。
外语教学是学校的办学特色。学校开设英语、日语等多种外国语，实行小班化教学，增加外语课时，使用多种外语教材，聘请外籍教师授课。每学期举办外语小品节，组织学生出国游学，全方位提高学生外语水平。学校是北京外国语大学基础英语教学实验基地。
学校教学设施齐全。新建的教学大楼宽敞明亮，所有教室都配备了多媒体设备。学校还建有图书馆、阅览室、实验室、计算机房以及400座学术报告厅。新建的塑胶运动场和乒乓球馆，为同学们每天体育锻炼一小时提供了保证。
学校先后被评为：南京市模范学校、南京市德育先进学校、江苏省模范民办学校、全国民办教育先进集体、全国十大名牌民办学校。
Nanjing Yuying Foreign Language School was founded in 1993 by Nanjing Retired Educators Association, and it is the first full-time private middle school approved by Nanjing Municipal Educational Bureau.
Since its foundation, the concept of “People-oriented, Responsible for Each Student” has been established in accordance with the school objective of “Running a Prestigious School Satisfied by the People”. The school has educational activities focused on “Good Habits Create a Good Life” all year round and a good school ethos has been formed in the school, for which the school has won high praise from the society.
There are two campuses in the school, a Junior High Campus and a Senior High Campus, with 36 classes, 1,218 students and 177 teachers and staff members. Among the teachers, quite a few are municipal and district leading teachers as well as excellent young teachers.
The school persists in the school strategy for “Fine Management and Effective Teaching”, and is famous for its excellent teaching quality. For many years, the school’s Senior High Entrance Examination results have always been among the highest in the city of Nanjing and at the top of the list in Gulou District. In addition, the College Entrance Examination results are far ahead of the same kind of schools.
The special characteristic of the school is foreign language teaching. English, Japanese and other foreign language courses are offered and small class-size teaching is implemented in the school. In order to improve the students’ all round foreign language proficiency, the students in the school have extra foreign language classes, use several foreign language text-books and foreign teachers are engaged to teach in the school. Every term, the school holds a foreign language short drama festival, and organizes the students to go abroad on a study tour. The school is now the Experimental Base for Fundamental English Teaching of Beijing Foreign Studies University.
The teaching facility in the school is complete. The newly-built teaching building is spacious and bright, and all the classrooms are equipped with multimedia equipment. The school also has a library, reading-rooms, labs, computer rooms, and a 400-seat academic lecture hall. The plastic sports ground and the table tennis hall in the school guarantee one-hour of physical exercise for students every day.
Nanjing Yuying Foreign Language School has been successively awarded the titles of: Nanjing Model School, Nanjing Moral Education Advanced School, Jiangsu Provincial Model Private School, National Private Education Advanced Unit and Ten The National Prestigious Private Schools.
