听力材料:
Text 1
M: Be glad you aren't at the other restaurant. They serve the biggest meals.
W: This is more than I can eat. Even you can't finish it all.
Text 2
M: You look tired, Mary.
W: Yes, I feel tired. I have worked so hard preparing for the exams. Finally, I could enjoy my leisure time in my dreaming place.
Text 3
W: How many hours per week are you working at the moment?
M: Em… well, I'm working from Monday to Friday, and I will do the occasional Saturday.
Text 4
M: Excuse me, can you help me? I bought two novels here 15 minutes ago, but I forgot to take them with me.
W: Sure. Who served you, Sir?
M: The girl who is busy writing over there.
Text 5
M: I have to go to the toilet quite frequently.
W: Well, it sounds as if you've picked up a stomach infection. Let's check your temperature and blood pressure.
Text 6
W: Do you know Betty?
M: Yes. We met each other at Joan's birthday party last year. Why do you ask that?
W: She is my cousin, and now she will study in California University, USA.
M: Really? Congratulations.
Text 7
M: Look, the bus has just gone. What shall we do now?
W: We should have left the concert half an hour earlier.
M: Why don't we take a taxi?
W: It's going to be difficult to find a taxi at this time. We'll have to go home on foot.
M: You'd better phone your parents. You know how strict they are.
W: You're right. Oh, look, there's Max. Perhaps he'll take us home in his car.
M: But his car is too small. There's only room for one, I'm afraid.
W: Sorry, Jeff! But you know how it is: your mom and dad are not as strict as mine. Bye, Jeff. Hi, Max…
M: Sara!
Text 8
W: Can I have a talk with you now, Mr. Smith?
M: Sure, what is it?
W: Well, I feel so lonely. How I wish I had a good friend! Could you give me some advice?
M: Sit here, please. Take it easy.
W: I spend most of my time studying. I hardly talk to my classmates.
M: I see. Your problem is a common one among middle school students. First of all, believe in yourself. You just lack self-confidence. The first thing you must do is to smile at your classmates.
W: But I do want to talk. I just don't know what to talk about and how to begin a conversation.
M: You may try talking with a student who is as shy as yourself or who shares the same interests as you. You can ask a classmate about your studies, and you can also talk about the hobbies you have in common with him or her. If a classmate is in trouble in life or study, you should be ready to help. Once you have more confidence, you can make as many friends as you like.
W: Thank you very much, Mr. Smith.
Text 9
M: I had a bad experience last week.
W: I'm sorry to hear that.
M: I'd like to make a complaint about my holiday in Hawaii.
W: What exactly was the problem?
M: First, the bus that I took broke down on the way and we had to wait for over two hours in the heat before another one arrived. Then, when I got to the hotel, I found my room hadn't been cleaned.
W: Oh dear, did you complain to the hotel staff?
M: Of course, but I was told all the cleaners were off duty. Anyway, that's not all. The people in the room above sounded like they were having all-night parties every night. I demanded another room, but the receptionist told me the hotel was full.
W: Oh, I see.
M: What's worse, the food in the hotel restaurant was awful. It was so bad that I had to eat out all the time, despite having paid for all of my meals in the hotel.
W: I do apologize. I'd like to offer you a 20% discount.
M: A 20% discount? I want to see your manager.
Text 10
W: Hello, I'd like to tell you something about my school. It's not a very big school, but it has all the facilities needed, such as a library, a canteen and an indoor swimming pool. There are 35 teachers in my school. All of them are knowledgeable and helpful. So it's not surprising that our public exam results are very good. And almost all of us can go to university, which is the reason why I chose this school. My school is a mixed school. About one third of the students are boys. We study Chinese, English, math, science and many other subjects. My favorite subject is computer. I love my school very much. But it would be much better if we didn't have so much homework. Sometimes I have to stay up until midnight to finish it.

One possible version:
As we all know, drugs are extremely dangerous because it is harmful to our health and difficult to get rid of. Taking drugs increases people’s heart rate and increases the risks of high blood pressure as well as heart attacks. And once you’re addicted, it is hard to give it up. Drugs cost people money and turns good people to monsters. You can find people cheating, stealing, and even killing to get money to buy drugs.
So I think we should stay away from drugs. And when you see drug takers, you should call the police.
Life is short. Don’t let drugs ruin it.
