Dear Mr Smith,
Firstly I must say thanks to you and your wife, Mrs Smith, for your warm accommodation during my stay in your home last term. As an exchange student, I’ve learnt a lot about American culture and improved my spoken English greatly with your help.
Now I’m writing to bother you just because I left a notebook in your home. The notebook is very important for me because it was a gift from my mother on my 15th birthday, in which I have written down many magnificent moments in my life.
I’d appreciate it if you would like to send it back to my school.
Yours,
Zhang Hua
