Anna Gomez is a successful TV host (主持人), but most people still think of her as a famous skater. “As a child, my dream was to become a dancer. I didn't own any skates until I was nine, and didn't become really interested in skating until I was fourteen,” said Anna. Anna went to university at the age of 18. Lao She was a famous Chinese novelist and dramatist. He was one of the most important people of 20th-century Chinese literature, and best-known for his novel Rickshaw Boy and the play Teahouse.
Lao She was born in a poor family in Beijing on 3 February 1899. In 1913, he was accepted by a high school in Beijing, but had to leave after several months because he couldn’t afford the tuition. In the same year, he was accepted to Beijing Normal University and graduated in 1918.
Lao She began his writing when he was teaching in London. His first novel was written there. His most important novel, Rickshaw Boy was published in 1936. It is considered to be a classic of modern Chinese literature. After being translated into English, it became a bestseller in the US.
Lao She then wrote Teahouse. The story happened during the Qing Dynasty, and finally, it brought us to the end of the Anti-Japanese war in 1945. It took place in a teahouse in old Beijing and it told us the story of Wang Lifa and his customers. At the end of the story Wang Lifa lost the teahouse and died. The play showed us the life in old Beijing.
